Overview

Overview

LegacyLens.pro helps families preserve a loved one’s voice, memories, and stories - and, through a living AI replica, lets future generations actually have a conversation with someone who came before them. I led an independent UX audit of the marketing site and onboarding experience: first impressions, technical foundations, messaging, conversion design, trust architecture, and competitive positioning - using heuristic evaluation and competitive benchmarking against five direct competitors.

The Problem

“LegacyLens sits in a genuinely compelling, fast-maturing market, and its core differentiator - an interactive AI replica descendants can actually speak with — has no direct competitor. But the website undersold that emotional payoff, left real technical barriers in place, and hadn’t closed the trust gap a product this personal requires.”

Process

Process

01

Audit

Heuristic evaluation of the live site across first impression, messaging, trust signals, conversion design, and technical health.

02

Technical Review

Rendered-HTML and metadata analysis to assess SEO crawlability, accessibility, and Core Web Vitals exposure.

03

Competitive Benchmarking

Mapped LegacyLens against five direct competitors to isolate where its differentiation was real versus assumed.

04

Synthesis

Translated findings into a prioritized roadmap, separating high-impact/low-effort quick wins from larger structural recommendations.

Invisible to search engines and screen readers

LegacyLens.pro is a JavaScript-only single-page app with no server-side rendering, meaning marketing content was effectively unindexed by search and inaccessible to assistive technology.

The product’s best argument wasn’t leading the page

Hero messaging led with a feature, not the outcome - that a grandchild could one day ask a grandmother they never met about her childhood, in her own voice.

Trust architecture didn’t match the weight of the ask

No visible privacy page, no answers to consent questions an AI replica raises, and no real family testimonials - the most persuasive asset this category has.

The real moat was being undersold

No competitor combines a thoughtful interview process with a living conversational replica. The site wasn’t structured around that combination.

Recommendations

Recommendations

P1

Fix the foundation

Migrate to server-side rendering · Rewrite hero to lead with the replica’s emotional outcome · Publish a plain-language privacy architecture page

P2

Build trust and conversion

No-signup audio demo · Visible pricing · Gift-occasion landing page · Real family testimonials and founder visibility

P3

Refine for scale

Dedicated multilingual messaging · Ethical-use FAQ on replica ownership and deletion · Elderly-user accessibility audit

30-day quick wins (no engineering required): rewrite the hero headline, publish a pricing page, publish a “how we protect your family’s memories” page.

Outcomes

This was a self-directed consulting audit producing a strategic roadmap rather than shipped design work. What it produced:

This was a self-directed consulting audit producing a strategic roadmap rather than shipped design work. What it produced:

A prioritized, effort-scored roadmap the founding team could execute without a full rebuild

A reframed core narrative repositioning the product around its real differentiator

A technical diagnosis identifying a structural SEO/accessibility blocker

A competitive map clarifying where the product’s advantage was genuine versus assumed

Reflection

Reflection

What worked

Separating the audit into clearly scored dimensions made it easy to prioritize - the lowest scores pointed directly to the highest-leverage fixes.

What I’d extend

A full interaction audit with live session recordings is the natural follow-up - validating real user behavior would sharpen the next round of recommendations.
